The head coach of Indian men’s cricket team is infamous for his aggression. He often manages to find himself at the centre of fights and heated altercations. When he joined the side as India’s head coach, the equation between Gambhir and Kohli became a talking point, thanks to their aggressive attitude.
Gambhir’s fearless attitude and infamous aggression
Gautam Gambhir has been a controversial figure of Indian cricket because of his natural tendency to pick a fight. He has always called a spade a spade. His fearless attitude and wearing heart of the sleeps has often made him a centre of storm but former India opener has refused to change. The way he spoke about media’s hype around MS Dhoni after the 2011 World Cup win has instantly made him villainous to many. But Gambhir kept on clarifying how he never had a problem with Dhoni.
Throughout his playing career Gautam Gambhir never feared anyone and he continued to carry on with the same attitude after retirement. His on-field arguments with Virat Kohli during Indian Premier League (IPL) made all apprehensive about their relation when Gambhir joined the Indian cricket team as the head coach. However, both of the ‘Dilli ka launda’-s focused on the team and decided to keep the toughness only for the rivals.
Gambhir, the ‘Home-town Hero’ at Delhi
Currently Indian team is playing the second and final Test of the two-match series against West Indies. During the Day 1 of the ongoing India vs West Indies Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Gambhir appeared on the recent episode of ‘Home-town Hero’, the local boy was heard talking about his true self.
"I'm still aggressive, but there is one change now. Whenever I try to be – that first instinct is still pretty much there – but my first reaction is to take on the fight. But somewhere, with age, the first thing that comes to mind is 'Ghar pe bachhe hain' (There are kids at home)." Gambhir said.
However, whenever anyone tends to abuse the Indian team, the head coach comes up with a strong message. The only goal for Gautam Gambhir has been the betterment of Indian cricket since his playing days.
