Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, April 7, in the 20th match of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Before this exciting clash, Mumbai Indians got some great news; their star bowler Jasprit Bumrah is back in the team after recovering from an injury.
Bumrah had been out for four months after getting injured during the fifth Test match against Australia in January. Now, he’s fully fit and ready to return, as confirmed by MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene.
Tim David On Facing Bumrah In RCB vs MI IPL 2025 Match
Ahead of the match, RCB batter Tim David spoke about how his team plans to play against Bumrah. He admitted that Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in the world, but said RCB won’t hold back.
"Yeah Bumrah’s pretty widely recognized as the best bowler going around and that's the challenge we want to have at RCB. If we're going to go deep in this tournament, we need to beat the best teams, we need to beat the best players," David said in the pre-match press conference.
He added that if Bumrah bowls the first over, RCB will try to make a strong start.
"So , hopefully Bumrah is bowling the first over tomorrow night and the first ball goes for 4 or 6 from whoever's opening the batting for us, that'll be a statement. It'll be great to have him back playing in the tournament because the game's better with him in it,” he added.
Tim David also joked about Bumrah’s dangerous yorkers and said he’ll try to keep his toes safe.
“I’ll just try and get my toes out of the way; he’s got a pretty lethal yorker. He’s a brilliant bowler, and when you put in big performances against the best teams, against the best players, they’re the best feelings you get as a player. So, you want to be challenged by the best, and I’m looking forward to that,” he added.
Mumbai Indians' Struggle In IPL 2025
As for the teams’ current form, Mumbai Indians are struggling; they’ve only won one out of their four matches so far this season. In contrast, RCB are doing well, with just one loss in their first three games.
