Over the weekend, social media and sports news were filled with rumours that Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has resigned. The buzz started soon after he became the new President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Many people thought that due to extra responsibilities, he might step down from his role at PCB.
Did PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Resign?
However, the PCB has cleared the air and strongly denied all these reports. According to The Tribune, the board issued a statement on Monday saying the news of Naqvi’s resignation is completely false and baseless.
A senior PCB official told The Tribune, “There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation,” the official stated. “He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”
Mohsin Naqvi Appointed As ACC President
Just recently, Naqvi also became the Federal Interior Minister and was elected unopposed as the ACC President, becoming the first Pakistan to hold that post since 2008. His selection was considered a big achievement for Pakistan in Asian cricket politics.
The official further said that handling two big roles; in PCB and ACC is possible with good time management.
“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC. Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage,” the board added.
So, to clear all the confusion; Mohsin Naqvi has not resigned. He is continuing as the PCB Chairman and remains fully involved in both his roles.
