India’s fast bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah recently revealed how John Wright miraculously scouted him for Mumbai Indian when he was just 19 playing for Gujarat, thus paving way for what is turning out to be a remarkable cricketing journey.

Jasprit Bumrah has become one of the most feared bowlers in international cricket, known for his lethal yorkers and unorthodox action.

His rise from a relatively unknown domestic player to a global cricketing sensation is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and, of course, impeccable skills.

Notably, Bumrah rose to fame after his sensational debut for Mumbai Indians back in 2013. The teenager had already caught people’s attention with an unusual action, and when he dismissed Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, the pacer became an overnight IPL sensation.

From then, Jasprit Bumrah turned into a lethal weapon, and probably the best pacer India’s witnessed in this generation.

That being said, Bumrah recently recalled his rookie days and revealed how his debut for MI was a fairytale come true. The pacer recalled that he had only heard stories of how selectors pick players randomly on a day. However, he didn’t believe in those stories until it happened to him.

Jasprit Bumrah revealed that former New Zealand cricketer and coach John Wright was the one who picked him for Mumbai Indians as a key member of the scouting team. He was just 19 years old, playing for Gujarat with no hopes of playing in the IPL in the near future.

"You hear these stories that some people will spot you, you get selected that usually happens in fairytale, but that actually happened to me. John Wright saw me when I was 19 years old and I got the IPL contract," Bumrah said at an event.

However, fate had other plans, as Wright was present at the right place at the right time to unearth a diamond for Indian cricket.
