Dale Steyn believes England will start out as favourites over the Indian team in the upcoming five-match Test series. The former South African fast bowler even predicted a certain scoreline in the favour of the hosts.

Steyn claimed that even though England will be favourites, there will be “no runaway winners” in the series and all five Tests will be closely-fought ones.

“No Runaway Win For Anyone…” Says Dale Steyn

Legendary South African fast bowler Dale Steyn believes that each Test of the upcoming five-match series between England and India will have a result, and all matches will be closely-fought between the two sides.

Steyn also added that England might edge out the visiting Indian team by a 3-2 margin to seal the series. While speaking on JioHotstar and as quoted by IndiaToday, the former cricketer said:

“All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favour of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no runaway win for any team, all five games will be very close.”

Compatible to Dale Steyn’s bold prediction, the English cricket team has secured comprehensive series wins in each of their past three assignments at home, defeating West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe over the past one year.

The Indian team, however, received a 1-3 thrashing in Australia during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, and also lost their home series to New Zealand by a 0-3 margin back in late 2024.

The upcoming series in England will mark India’s first Test assignment since the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The series will commence from June 20 onwards at Headingley in Leeds.
