On Sunday, June 15, India concluded their ten-day camp in London, and the focus now shifts to the Test series against England, with the first Test beginning on June 20 in Leeds. The final leg of preparations was an intra-squad match between India and India A, where Shardul Thakur grabbed headlines for his batting performance.
There was no live stream of the intra-squad match, but a report from Devendra Pandey of Express Sports revealed that Shardul, playing for India, smashed a brilliant unbeaten 122. According to RevSportz, the match has concluded, and it appears Thakur played the most crucial role in the warm-up.
Rohit Juglan also reported that Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shardul Thakur were the top performers in the match.
Shardul Thakur Makes a Solid Return to the Indian Team
Shardul Thakur is enjoying a strong run in recent months. The right-arm seamer last played for India in December 2023 but made a compelling case for his return with impressive performances in domestic cricket.
Notably, the 33-year-old took 35 wickets in the Ranji Trophy 2024 and was one of the tournament’s standout performers. With the bat, Thakur scored 505 runs in 12 innings at an average of 42.08, including four fifty-plus scores and a century.
Outstanding domestic season earned him a recall to the Indian squad for the England tour, where he is expected to play a key role. Thakur also boasts a solid record in England.

Looking at his international record, Shardul Thakur has played four of his 11 Tests in England, taking 10 wickets in seven innings. His only better performance has come in South Africa.
More notably, Thakur has contributed with the bat in England, scoring 173 runs with three fifty-plus scores.
