One of the latest additions to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad, Mayank Dagar has shared his enthusiasm about becoming a part of the "Play Bold Army." He expressed his excitement and conveyed his aspirations to help lift the trophy for RCB in the upcoming IPL 2024. Ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, Dagar joined RCB through a trade deal. Dagar joins the squad in place of Shabaz Ahmed.

The right-handed all-rounder, Mayank Dagar, previously featured for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and had a limited role in the 2023 IPL season, participating in just three games and securing one wicket.

Hailing from Delhi, the 27-year-old Dagar is a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler who represents Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket. He was acquired by SRH for INR 1.8 crore in the mini-auction.

During the 2023 season, Dagar played three matches for SRH, claiming one wicket with an economy rate of 7.55. His T20 career statistics include 55 wickets in 54 games at an impressive economy rate of 6.57. However, his batting contributions are limited, accumulating only 72 runs in T20 cricket, highlighting his primary role as a bowler.

Considering Dagar's proficiency as a specialist spinner, RCB may need to secure a lower-middle-order hitter similar to Shahbaz in the upcoming auction.

Dagar expressed his excitement about joining the RCB group, stating that playing for the team has always been his dream.

"Hello Everyone, I'm Mayank Dagar and I'm so excited to play for RCB group and it was always my dream to play for RCB. And big thanks to the coaching staff and the RCB management for showing faith in me I'll make sure I give my hundred percent for the team and lift the trophy for RCB,"  Mayank Dagar said in a video released by RCB.

RCB made substantial changes during the IPL 2024 retention deadline, releasing 11 players, including notable names like Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Wayne Parnell, David Willey, Siddharth Kaul, and Kedar Jadhav. While retaining only four fast bowlers- Vyshak Vijaykumar, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, RCB will now look to strengthen their bowling attack for the 2024 season, possibly targeting renowned bowlers in the auction to complete their starting XI.

Players Retained By RCB: Faf du Plessis (c), Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik, Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar (Trade), Vyshak Vijaykumar, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Cameron Green (Trade).
