The Asia Cup 2025 is done and dusted, but the tournament ended on a controversial note as things escalated between India and Pakistan after the Men in Blue won a nerve-wracking final to clinch the title for the ninth time. Tilak Varma kept his cool under pressure and steered India home with five wickets to spare as Pakistan suffered embarrassment for the third time against India.
After India’s emphatic win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a subtle dig at Pakistan with an Operation Sindoor post as he was jubilant after India’s triumph over their opponent.
"#Operation Sindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers," PM Modi tweeted.
Mohsin Naqvi hits back at PM Modi with objectionable tweet
This tweet, however, infuriated PCB and ACC Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, who hit back at the Indian Prime Minister with a baseless and objectionable tweet.
"If war was your measure of pride, history already records your humiliating defeats at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can rewrite that truth. Dragging war into sport only exposes desperation and disgraces the very spirit of the game."
Indian team humiliates Naqvi after Asia Cup triumph
After India won the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side decided not to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who had insulted India a few days ago with his unnecessary story. Naqvi kept waiting on the dias as the Indian side refused to take the medals and trophy from him, and after a while, the Chairman ran away with the trophy.
Even before the final, India had informed the ACC officials that they wouldn’t entertain Naqvi on the dias and wouldn’t accept the trophy from him, but despite knowing the reality, the Chairman kept waiting and eventually decided to take the trophy with him, as it further escalated the matter.
