Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Chandrakant Pandit addressed the media ahead of the all important home clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With CSK’s massive fan following and the legacy of MS Dhoni, the city of joy is expected to be a sea of yellow.
Chandrakant Pandit Unfazed by Potential Yellow Sea at the Eden Gardens
Speaking ahead of the big-ticket encounter, the coach dismissed any concerns about their home venue turning yellow in favour of the visiting side from Chennai. He made it clear that his team remains focused despite the prospect of heavy support for the Men in Yellow on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens.
“I think during these kinds of games, every player and every team is always focused on their own game. When you are focused on the game, it (outside noise) does not matter so much if you ask me,” Pandit said during the pre- match press conference.
Eden Gardens, known for its passionate cricket crowds, has seen a unique shift in support for the Indian cricket legend when CSK and Dhoni came to play in Kolkata back in 2023. The stands turned all yellow, showcasing immense admiration for Dhoni, despite being the visiting skipper.
On the other hand, KKR will be aiming to silence the yellow army with a strong performance, beating CSK for the second time this season and push their playoff chances. Irrespective of how the crowd support turns out, Ajinkya Rahane and his men will be looking to continue their 2-match winning streak and go further up the ladder in the points table.
