As Chennai Super Kings struggle through a difficult IPL 2025 season, the biggest question surrounding the franchise remains whether this is MS Dhoni’s final season in IPL. Amid speculations, CEO Kasi Viswanathan has made it clear that the decision rests entirely with Dhoni himself.

Dhoni has been serving the IPL for the last 18 years. This year, he was retained as an uncapped player because he retired from international cricket five years ago. However, age is taking a toll on the former legend, as his fitness concerns are fairly visible.

Moreover, in 2025, under his leadership, CSK became the first team to get eliminated from the playoff race.

“It’s his call, we will never tell him anything. If he takes a decision, he will inform us. He hasn’t told us anything,” Viswanathan told RevSportz.

Dhoni, 43, continues to be the face of the CSK franchise, and his presence on the field is still a major attraction. However, with Chennai managing just 4 points from 11 games this season, questions about a complete team overhaul, including Dhoni’s future, have gained momentum.

With CSK set to focus on youth and rebuilding for the next season, Dhoni’s decision will likely have a major impact on the direction of the team. But for now, fans will have to wait, just like the franchise management.
