Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans in the 56th match of IPL 2025, which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. But the big question is: will Kagiso Rabada be part of the GT squad in today’s game?
Kagiso Rabada has returned to India just before this crucial match for Gujarat Titans. The South African fast bowler had to leave the tournament in March because he tested positive for a recreational drug. As a result, he was handed a one-month provisional suspension.
Now, the 29-year-old is available again, and Gujarat Titans’ Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, confirmed this in the pre-match press conference.
Vikram Solanki Confirms Rabada Is Available To Play
Solanki praised Rabada for being honest about the situation and said the bowler regrets the mistake he made.
"As far as tomorrow's match is concerned, he is available. I'd like to just get a couple of things across. The first of which would be that Kagiso has expressed regret at an error in judgment. He's made a telling statement. I read his statement, and I thought that his statement speaks volumes about the personality of the character that he is," Solanki said in the pre-match press conference.
It is also important to note that Rabada also practiced with the Gujarat Titans team at Wankhede Stadium the evening before the GT vs MI match. He bowled alongside fellow pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, but trained for less than 30 minutes before sitting under an umbrella near the practice nets. So, there are high chances that Rabada might play today's match against MI.
Kagiso Rabada's Performance In IPL 2025 So Far
Gujarat Titans bought Rabada for ₹10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. So far, he has played only two matches and taken two wickets before his suspension.
Currently, Gujarat Titans are placed fourth on the points table with 14 points from 10 matches. With four games left and a Net Run Rate of +0.867, they are in a good position to qualify for the Playoffs.
If Rabada plays today, it could be a big boost for the team as they aim to get one step closer to the knockout stage.
