On May 5, 2025, the Delhi High Court dismissed a plea by Royal Challengers Bengaluru against a YouTube advertisement by Uber Moto. The ad features Sunrisers Hyderabad star Travis Head and has been criticised by RCB for allegedly mocking their team name and image.

RCB had filed a case against Uber India Systems Pvt. Ltd., saying the ad was insulting and harmed their reputation. In the video titled “Baddies in Bengaluru ft. Travis Head,” the Australian cricketer is shown running toward a stadium in Bengaluru and spray-painting over a sign that says "Bengaluru Vs Hyderabad."

He changes it to read “Royally Challenged Bengaluru,” which RCB claims is a play on their team name and is insulting.

RCB See No Relief In Uber Ad Case

RCB’s lawyer argued that this was a case of trademark misuse and disrespect toward the team. They claimed Uber, a sponsor of SRH, was using RCB’s name in a negative way to promote their business, which is not allowed under trademark law.

However, Justice Saurabh Banerjee of the Delhi High Court disagreed. He said that the ad was just cricket-related fun and didn’t need any legal action at this stage. He added that sports, including the IPL, often involve playful banter and that stopping such ads would take the fun out of the game.

Uber’s lawyers also defended the ad by saying it was just harmless humour between rival teams and should be taken in a sporting spirit. The final detailed court order is still pending, but for now, the case has been dismissed.

RCB Top Points Table After Beating CSK

In a thrilling IPL 2025 encounter, RCB edged past CSK by just 2 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB posted a strong total of 213/5, thanks to Virat Kohli's 62, Jacob Bethell's 55, and a fiery 53* off 14 balls from Romario Shepherd. CSK's chase fell agonisingly short at 211/5 despite Ayush Mhatre’s 94 and Jadeja’s unbeaten 77. With that close win, RCB climbed to the top of the points table with 8 wins and 16 points in 11 games.
