'Cricket Left In Me…' - Imad Wasim Taunts PCB After Starring In United's PSL 2024 Win

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim seized five Multan Sultans wickets and scored handy runs in a tense chase to steer Islamabad United to a remarkable win in the PSL 2024 final.

Fittingly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’, Wasim’s all-round show helped Islamabad United bag their third PSL title.

The 35-year-old, who announced his retirement from international cricket back in November last year after being dropped from Pakistan’s 2023 World Cup squad, seems to have taunted the PCB during his presentation speech at Karachi’s National Stadium after United’s last-ball win over Multan Sultans.

Imad Wasim reflects final, reveals future plans

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Imad Wasim expressed his excitement for contributing with the ball in the final, describing it a new experience for him as an all-rounder.

"I didn't feel that it would go on to be the best-ever tournament. I just wanted to have an impact on the team's win. It was a new experience, taking five wickets in the final. I have done these things with the bat earlier as well, but with the ball, it was a special performance," Imad said.

The Islamabad United star also praised tailenders Naseem Shah and Hunain Shah for coming up clutch in a tense run-chase during the slog overs.

“Shouldn't have taken it that deep. I did have a word with Naseem and Hunain, but both did their job.”

The former Pakistan cricketer, who announced his retirement in November 2023 after facing months of omissions, also seems to have taunted the PCB and the selection committee after his PSL-winning performance against Multan Sultans.

Describing himself fit to play, the all-rounder claimed that he still has four to five years of cricket left in him.

“I am happy playing cricket. I am trying my utmost to contribute to the team. 4 to 5 years of cricket left in me. I'm fit and trying to contribute as much as possible," he added.

Earlier in the match, Imad Wasim registered only the second five-wicket haul of his career, with Johnson Charles being the pick of his 5-23.

Chasing 160 in the second half of the game, the all-rounder shared 30 runs for the eighth wicket with Naseem Shah, before Hunain Shah’s winning hit took Islamabad United to a two-wicket victory off the final ball.
