Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) organised an intra-squad practice match to ensure high-intense preparations for their players ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The two-time champions divided their players into two teams - Team Gold and Team Purple, representing the franchise's jersey colours - and put the talented squad against each other.

The practice game was held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Team Gold ended up defeating Team Purple in a close-fought affair by just five runs, and multiple prominent names of the KKR contingent stood out with terrific performances.

Team Gold batted first and posted a gigantic total of 238 runs off their 20 overs, including replacement England opener Phil Salt's magnificent knock of 238 runs off their 20 overs, which set up the foundation for the imposing team score.

Big Names Flourish During KKR's Practice Game

Backing Salt's extravagant knock was KKR's former skipper and middle-order batter Nitish Rana, with a free-flowing half-century struck off just 30 deliveries and the franchise's rising young power hitter Rinku Singh, who intensified the build-up to KKR's opening game via a trademark cameo worth 37* off 16 balls.

Given the chance to play for both teams, experienced allrounder Andre Russell initially missed out with the bat when his innings for Team Gold ended at 13 off five balls, but he had a more fruitful time playing for Team Purple as he struck a knock of 35 off 14 deliveries.

Despite their loss, it was one of the two significant positives from Team Purple's batting effort for KKR.

The other saw franchise's comeback man Manish Pandey bludgeoned an innings of 51* off only 24 balls. Among the uncapped youngsters, Angkrish Raghuvanshi smashed 48 off 27 balls for Team Gold.
