After an early dropped chance, RCB superstar batter Virat Kohli redeemed himself by hitting three back to back boundaries to provide his team an early advantage in the 177 runs chase against PBKS.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) met Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a high-octane IPL 2024 season clash earlier today. Batting first, PBKS posted 176 runs on the board courtesy of Shikhar Dhawan’s 45 runs anchor knock and Shashank Singh’s 8 ball 21 runs late finish.

Meanwhile, early into the chase, RCB dodged a bullet as star batter Virat Kohli was dropped on duck by Jonny Bairstow at slip, and Kohli decided to make PBKS pay for Bairstow’s massive miscue.

Virat Kohli regained confidence as the dropped chance raced away for a four, and in the very next delivery, he smashed a stylish drive, clearing the covers.

To put Sam Curran under further pressure and rub salt on the dropped chance wounds, Kohli flicked a cheeky boundary towards fine leg to club another four runs.

Having attained 12 runs already off the first over, Virat Kohli turned it into a massive advantage for RCB by executing another remarkable drive towards extra overs.

Barring the dropped chance, every shot of the over hit by Virat Kohli was beautifully timed and came right off the middle of his bat. The Chinnaswamy crowd got to witness a vintage version of Virat Kohli after a long while, and they cherished the moment thoroughly.

That being said, despite early fireworks, Virat Kohli has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. He must bat deep to get RCB in a comfortable position in a tricky 177-run chase vs PBKS.
