Punjab Kings’ new Australian recruit, Cooper Connolly, has quickly become a fan favorite with his elegant left-handed batting and handy left-arm spin. At just 22, the youngster has already impressed in Australian cricket and is now gearing up to light up the IPL 2026, sparking excitement over his ideal batting position.

"I like to model my game on being able to be versatile in any position. So whether that is at 3, whether that is in the middle, I'm happy to perform any role," Connolly said while talking to the media on Monday.
In his short T20 career, Connolly has batted at number three in six innings, scoring 317 runs at an average of 52.8 with a strike rate of 145.4. He has also been effective at number four, averaging 56.7 with a strike rate of 145.3.
Having said that, Punjab Kings can be optimistic about Connolly, as he is adaptable and ready to take on any role the team requires. His ability to bring balance and flair makes him a valuable asset, while his potential as a future star for Australian cricket adds to the excitement.
