Indian all-rounder from Karnataka, Krishnappa Gowtham, has officially announced his retirement from cricket. With that, his 14-year-long journey in the game comes to an end.
Gowtham was introduced to the Karnataka side in the Ranji Trophy in November 2012, and he had a remarkably impressive debut.
In his very first match, he bowled out big guns such as Suresh Raina and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, making it clear that he is ready for greater challenges.
Over the years, he grew into one of Karnataka’s most reliable all-rounders.

In 2021, he eventually made it to the senior Indian side, making his debut in an ODI match against Sri Lanka. But his international career was short.
However, after going unsold in the IPL auction, Gowtham has called time on his career at 35 years of age. He announced his decision through a press meet with KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad by his side.
Gowtham has had a highly lucrative stint in the IPL. He represented five different teams, which include Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants.
His biggest moment at the auction came in 2021, when CSK bought him for ₹9.25 crore. Across nine IPL seasons, he earned over ₹35 crore.
However, Krishnappa Gowtham played only one game with LSG in IPL 2024 and missed the following season. He again went unsold in a recent auction.
Krishnappa Gowtham’s noteworthy domestic record
In first-class cricket, Krishnappa Gowtham was a giant. The 2016–17 Ranji season proved to be a turning point, as Gowtham picked up 27 wickets in just eight matches.
A season later, he added another feather to his cap by scoring his maiden first-class century against Assam. Across 59 first-class and 68 List A matches, Gowtham took more than 320 wickets while also scoring valuable runs lower down the order.
