'Captain Is The First To Be Dismissed..,' Afridi's Brutal Dig At Babar As PCB Sacks Razzaq & Wahab

On Tuesday, Pakistan Cricket Board sacked ex-cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the national team selection committee. The removal of both these cricketers was a part of a clean-up operation following Pakistan's abysmal performance in the T20 World Cup.

'Babar has had sufficient opportunities' - Shahid Afridi

After the PCB sacked Razzaq and Wahab, legendary former allrounder Shahid Afridi reckoned that Pakistan used to sack the captains first following horrendous World Cup campaigns.

"No captain has ever had such a clear opportunity. Usually, the captain is the first to be dismissed right after the World Cup ends," Afridi said.

Thus, he opined that Babar has got enough opportunities to prove himself unlike most of his predecessors.

"We've led the team too, like myself, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, but Babar has had sufficient opportunities. Let's make one decisive move and back him wholeheartedly with whatever he brings," he added.

Regarding the sacking, Afridi said that kind of a surgery didn't make sense to him.

"To be honest, this kind of surgery is beyond my comprehension," he concluded.

Pakistan's upcoming assignment

After suffering a group-stage exit from the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, Pakistan will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, starting on August 21, on home soil.
