Mohammed Siraj has expressed his first reactions since India’s demoralizing defeat to Australia at the 2023 World Cup final last weekend. The speedster was spotted breaking down in tears following Australia’s triumph at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, as Team India had their unbeaten juggernaut hampered on the big day.

Taking to his Instagram account, Siraj penned a heartfelt note for the fans, and expressed his own disappointment over the recent result.

‘Heartbroken’ Mohammed Siraj pens heartfelt note

Mohammed Siraj has expressed his first reactions over India’s World Cup 2023 final defeat to Australia by penning a heartfelt post on his Instagram account.

The pace maverick wrote that representing the Indian team is the highest honor he could think of and stated that the players will work harder each day to chase bigger glory after their recent “heartbreaking” loss.

“Our campaign did not end like we wanted it too but representing India is the biggest honour and moment of pride for me. All I have ever wanted to do is represent my country. Heartbroken! Words can’t express the disappointment and hurt. It’s been a tough loss to take. This time might not have been god’s will but we aim to work harder each day to chase glory for our country!”

The 29-year-old fast bowler further thanked ‘Men in Blue’ fans for supporting the team throughout the tournament. He added:

“Thank you to all our fans for your support. Seeing a sea of blue in the crowd is a feeling that can’t be matched. Grateful!”

Siraj bagged 14 wickets throughout 11 World Cup 2023 games and formed a fearsome pace triad with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for the Indian team. The speedster delivered imperial match-winning spells against Pakistan and Netherlands, and a near unplayable one against Sri Lanka, barely a month after driving Team India to Asia Cup 2023 crown against the same opponents.

Following India’s hectic international schedule, Siraj has now taken a rest from India’s five-match home T20I series against Australia. The pace demon will likely be seen in action during India’s forthcoming all-format tour to South Africa to commence his post-World Cup 2023 cricketing ventures.
