India's star batter, Shubman Gill, lends his support to Mohammed Siraj as a potential leader of their pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi.

Notably, India have opted to rest Jasprit Bumrah, currently topping the wickets tally in this series, for the fourth Test against England. He has taken 17 wickets at 13.64 in three Tests.

Bumrah has been putting in the hard yards, bowling more overs than any other fast bowler in this series, with 80.5 overs spread over six innings. Hence, his absence will surely be missed in the upcoming Test.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill believes that although Bumrah will be a huge miss, the hosts will be on the safer side with Mohammed Siraj, whose wicket column doesn't reflect the efforts he has been putting into the series so far.

Here's what Shubman Gill said in the press conference ahead of the fourth Test:

“Bumrah is the leader of our pace attack, but I think the way Mohammad Siraj has bowled, especially in the last innings of the Rajkot Test match (has been great). He has experience in Indian conditions.”

Mohammed Siraj has taken four wickets in the two Tests he's participated in thus far, all of which came during the final innings of the Rajkot Test.
