Dangerous Martin Guptill Makes PSL Return As Replacement Of Muhammad Waseem

In a significant squad shake-up, Islamabad United signed New Zealand veteran batter Martin Guptill as a replacement for Muhammad Waseem, who left PSL 2024 to play BPL 2024 for Chattogram Challengers.

The PSL 2024 season is currently in full swing as mega stars of the cricketing world clash in the T20 franchise league.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United, led by all-rounder Shadab Khan, is on a quest to correct last year's mistakes and make a deep playoff run.

However, early into the new season, the United faced a major setback as UAE cricketer Mohammad Waseem left the squad mid-way to attend his prior commitments to BPL franchise Chattogram Challengers.

Moreover, Waseem confirmed his intentions to participate in the remaining half of the BPL 2024 season,  which makes his return to PSL unlikely.

Accordingly, Islamabad United launched a hunt for an ideal replacement, and their quest stopped at Kiwi veteran Martin Guptill.

Guptill, who had scored a century in PSL last year for Quetta Gladiators, failed to bag a contract this year. Regardless, Waseem's exit has been a blessing in disguise for Guptill, who managed to bag a second stint in PSL.

That being said, Guptill's inclusion brings a wealth of experience and a reputation for explosive batting at the top of the order. His aggressive style of play and ability to score briskly make him a formidable force in T20 cricket.

As Islamabad United navigates their way through the brand new PSL season, all eyes will be on Guptill as he joins the squad and prepares to make his mark in the tournament.

The United intends to make it to the playoffs this year after missing out by fine margins last season.

Shadab Khan and co. have begun the quest on a winning note, and despite the recent loss, Islamabad United is confident of registering a successful season this year in PSL.
