Promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy might find a place in India's squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia, with the selectors considering including a potent seam-bowling all-rounder for the tour. After an impressive IPL stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Reddy received his maiden international call-up for the recently held T20I series against Bangladesh. The talented cricketer showcased his all-round abilities in the series, amassing 90 runs and scalping three wickets in three matches.

Nitish Reddy's All-Round Calibre To Be Tested On India A's Australia Tour

Nitish Reddy has been included in the India-A squad for the Australia tour. According to The Indian Express, the seam-bowling all-rounder will get a chance to showcase his mettle in the unofficial Test matches against Australia A. The BCCI selection panel will monitor if he can bowl long spells in Australian conditions before taking a final call on his selection for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The report states that India might also consider Shardul Thakur for the bowling all-rounder role. Notably, Thakur last played a Test match against South Africa earlier this year before an injury sidelined him from action. However, the experienced campaigner has returned to competitive cricket and started auditioning for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by featuring in the Ranji Trophy tournament.

India Squad For Australia Tour To Be Finalised Soon

According to the report, the selection committee members will meet after India's second Test against New Zealand in Pune. After the squad announcement, the Indian team will likely depart for Perth on November 10. With captain Rohit Sharma doubtful for the first Test, it will be interesting to see who leads the visiting side in Perth.
