Veteran South African cricketer Lizelle Lee exhibited her agility behind the stumps as she executed a magnificent stumping to dismiss Sydney Thunder's Phoebe Litchfield in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League. Coming at number three, Litchfield struck a quick-fire 37-ball 51 before Lee's clinical stumping sent her packing.
The incident occurred during the 14th over of Sydney Thunder Women's innings when Litchfield was single-handedly powering them towards a victory. As she had already breached the 50-run mark, Hobart Hurricanes desperately needed someone to dismiss her and swing the game in their favour.
Ace Australian bowler Heather Graham did the job for the Hurricanes Women, getting rid of the southpaw at a crucial juncture of the match.
Bowling the first ball of her over, Graham delivered it wide outside the off stump when she saw Litchfield charging down the track. The left-handed batter missed the ball completely, with Lizelle Lee collecting it in time and dislodging the bails in a flash. Although it was a wide ball, Lee's lightning-quick stumping helped the Hurricanes get Litchfield's prized scalp.
Hurricanes Crush Thunder In A One-Sided Affair
Apart from Litchfield, none of the Thunder batters could put up a fight against the Hurricanes' bowling unit. The legendary Chamari Athapaththu was the biggest disappointment for the Thunder, being dismissed for a golden duck. Chasing 142 runs, the Thunder were bowled out for a paltry 110-run total, losing the match by 31 runs.
