Bangladesh captain Litton Das is all set to return to the squad after missing out on the Asia Cup 2025 due to injury. The Bengal Tigers will play a T20I series against the West Indies, starting on October 28 in Chattogram. Das expressed his genuine emotions about missing out on the Asia Cup and the Afghanistan series that preceded it. However, he is fully fit for the upcoming series and expects a tough fight from the team.
Litton Das eyes competitive West Indies tour
Bangladesh will play two T20I series before the start of the T20I World Cup 2026: one against the West Indies and the other against Ireland. While both are home series, they'll get good exposure and challenges ahead of the ICC event. Speaking about the challenges, Litton Das mentioned that he wants the series to be challenging for both batters and bowlers.
"Honestly speaking, I want our players to be challenged in the two series. It can be in bowling or batting. I want the bowlers to be under pressure when bowling, it would help us in the upcoming World Cup," said Litton Das at the pre-match press conference.
It hurts when you don't get to play games: Litton Das
Litton Das, who missed a few series in the past, looked quite optimistic about his comeback in the team. He opened up about his mindset and how difficult it was for him as a player to watch the game from the sidelines.
"First of all, as a player it hurts when you don't get to play games. Not just the Asia Cup, I also watched the Afghanistan series from home. It hurt me, as I was in good form, was performing pretty well, and leading the team. To watch the team play from home was painful. At the same time, you have to accept that sometimes things won't be in your hands, especially an injury, which can happen at any time," added Das.
The T20I captain might get some added responsibilities in the future as Najmul Hossain Shanto stepped down from the Test captaincy. While the board is looking for candidates, it might start by making Das the captain, as he has experience in leading the red-ball team.
