Litton Das for Bangladesh (Source: AFP)
In a big positive for Bangladesh cricket, the T20I captain Litton Das is back at his full fitness and has been named in the squad for the initial two T20Is against West Indies.
Litton Das suffered a side strain during the Asia Cup 2025 and was subsequently ruled out of the T20I series against Afghanistan. Jaker Ali led Bangladesh in his absence, and the Tigers even whitewashed Afghanistan, but with Litton back, he would now take the vice-captain role again.
Bangladesh retain their successful T20I core
Litton Das has been included in the place of Soumya Sarkar who was part of the Bangladesh's squad against Afghanistan. Mohammad Saifuddin has also been dropped, while the rest of the squad is the same, and the selectors have decided to trust the core of players that have recently done well.
The batting group includes the likes of Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon and Saif Hassan, who all have opened for Bangladesh in recent times. Thus, it would be interesting to see who opens for them while captain Litton Das is expected to fit in at number 3. The likes of Towhid Hridoy and finishers Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali and Nurul Hasan form the core of the middle order.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz ignored again in T20Is
The squad includes three spinners with three different varieties of bowlers in the form of Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed. However, ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz continues to get ignored in the shortest format.
The fast bowling group includes the experienced duo of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, along with Shoriful and impressive Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Thus, the selectors have avoided the temptation to rest injury-prone Taskin Ahmed and have gone with their full-strength side.
However, there could be changes for the final T20I as the squad for the only two games has been revealed. The first T20I will be played on October 27, and all the matches will be played in Chattogram.
