With only a day to go, all eyes are shifting to Kandy, where arch-rivals India and Pakistan will lock horns in the Group A match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. While Pakistan has already notched up an easy win, India will want to kick off their campaign with a victory as well.

Former India skipper Virat Kohli, who has been a thorn in Pakistan's throat will once again look to carry out his best against an opposition, which the batter enjoys playing against.

Ahead of the all-important tie at Pallekele, Kohli speaking with official broadcasters Star Sports, explained why playing against Pakistan is tough and has to bring his 'A' game every time.

India have won all their last three One-Day Internationals (ODI) against Pakistan, with the most recent being in CWC 2019.

Here's what Kohli said

"I feel bowling is their strength. And they’ve got some really impactful bowlers that can change the course of the game anytime based on their skill set. So, you have to be at your absolute best to face them."

Kohli has been in rich form this lately having scored 554 runs in 13 ODIs since December 2022. The 34-year-old spoke about his newfound batting approach as well as explaining how he focuses on bettering his understanding of skills.

"I only try to understand how I can better my game. Every day, every practice session, every year, every season, this is what has helped me play this well for so long and to perform for my team."

"I think I strive for betterment every day, so that is a better word to use, and yes, performance obviously becomes a by-product because your mindset is ‘How do I make my team win from this position?”

In 13 ODIs against Pakistan, Kohli has scored 536 runs with two tons and as many fifties.
