Indian cricketers are a hot property in County cricket lately. The newest in the list of newly-signed Indian players by County clubs is all-rounder Jayant Yadav. Yadav has been roped in by Middlesex County Cricket Club (MCCC) for the final four matches of the ongoing County Championship Division One 2023 competition.

Yadav featured for Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC) last season, playing two matches.

The 33-year-old will join Middlesex sometime this week and will be available to take the field against Essex at Chelmsford the following Monday. The sporadic Team India player has featured in six Tests between 2016 and 2022, scoring 465 runs, including a ton, and has picked up 16 wickets with a best of 4 for 19. The Delhi-born has also played two ODIs for India.

Yadav boasts of an impressive First-Class record, having scored 2,596 runs with three centuries, and 205 wickets with nine five-wicket hauls in 75 matches. In a statement, Yadav expressed a desire to contribute to wins for his new side.

Here's what Yadav said

“I am honoured and excited to join the prestigious Middlesex County Cricket Club for the upcoming Championship games and be a part of its rich cricketing history. I enjoyed my experience of playing county cricket last year and am eagerly looking forward to the new stint with Middlesex and contributing to the Club's success.”

Yadav is most likely filling in place for Pieter Malan, who has returned to South Africa after his brief stint.  In his 12-year-old career, the bowling all-rounder has played for teams like Delhi, Haryana, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans.

Middlesex are currently occupying eighth position in Division One standing, with 84 points in 11 matches, having won three, lost six, and one drawn.
