Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders were all set to clash in a much-anticipated IPL 2024 encounter at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, rain and thunderstorm has struck the venue, jeopardising the fixture. 

It started drizzling in Ahmedabad hours before the GT vs KKR match and things are not looking good, with the ground being under covers as per the latest visuals. Rain has become heavier as the chances of a full-fledged match seems a distant dream. 


What if GT vs KKR is abandoned due to rain? 

Led by Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders have already qualified for the all-important playoffs, winning nine of their twelve group-stage matches. 

So, if play doesn't get underway, it will affect only the Titans, whose playoff qualification still hangs by a thread. 

In twelve outings, the Titans have managed only five victories, occupying the eighth position in the IPL 2024 points table. 

If tonight's game ends in a washout, both teams will get a point each, with GT taking their tally to eleven points. So, even if they win their last group-stage match, the Titans will get eliminated from the tournament.
