"I Will Never Forget This Day," Ayush Mhatre Ecstatic As He Celebrates Special Moment At Lord's

Young Indian batter Ayush Mhatre expressed his excitement after celebrating his birthday at the Home of Cricket, Lord's. Led by Mhatre, India's under-19 team recently clashed with their English counterparts in a high-voltage youth Test. 

Mhatre Reminisces Birthday Celebration At Lord's

Recently, the senior Indian team suffered a heartbreaking defeat at Lord's, with the English side edging them by 22 runs in a thrilling match. After a few days following the game's conclusion, the under-19 team had the opportunity to enter the iconic venue and experience its rich heritage and legacy up close. 

While the team's head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar remembered his under-19 days, current captain Ayush Mhatre jubilantly celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake at the Mecca of Cricket. 

The explosive Chennai Super Kings batter expressed his happiness, explaining how he lived his ultimate dream on his special day. 

"I will never forget this day. It will keep on going in my mind that I want to play at Lord's one day. I had only seen the stadium before on TV and now I've seen it in person," Mhatre said in the video released by BCCI, as quoted by TOI. 
"It was a very special day for me because I celebrated my birthday and cut the cake at Lord's. There won't be a bigger moment in my life. I feel very special," he added. 

Talking about India's under19 team, the youngsters have been quite impressive on the current England tour. After winning the One-Day series by a comprehensive 3-2 margin, the tourists gave the Englishmen a run for their money in the red-ball game in Beckenham. 

Although the inaugural youth Test concluded in a stalemate, the performances of Ayush Mhatre, Vihaan Malhotra, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Henil Patel grabbed the limelight.
