With an exciting turnaround, South Africa has made their way into the WTC final for the very first time. As the Proteas prepare to face the mighty Australians, anticipation and adrenaline are at an all-time high.

As the constant comparisons are going on before the high-voltage clash, Australian great Matthew Hayden has drawn comparisons between a Proteas batter and an English batting maestro, calling him the team’s 'X' factor.

Who’s The 'X' Factor For The Proteas In WTC25 Final?

Ending an exceptional WTC cycle, Australia and South Africa are all set to cross the swords at the final stage. South Africa, determined to break their ICC trophy curse, have fought their way to the final with their eyes on the coveted title. Ahead of the clash, the cricket world is buzzing with excitement.

Before stepping into the big clash, Australian legend Matthew Hayden has praised Tristan Stubbs’ brilliance. According to News18, he’s dubbed the Protea batter the ‘X’ factor for South Africa in the WTC final.

“Someone like Tristan Stubbs, I think, can be a bit of an X-factor. Similar to the way that Kevin Pietersen was in the England side against Australia, who can come out, start to dominate,” Hayden said.

Stubbs’ Power-Hitting Can Be South Africa’s Secret Weapon

Known for aggressive batting, Tristan Stubbs can shine across the formats with his power-hitting abilities. His IPL 2025 performance is a living example of that. Donning Delhi Capitals jersey, he scored 300 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 150.75. Ahead of the big final, Matthew Hayden sees Stubbs’ power-hitting as a potential game-changer.

“We’ve seen his hitting ability through the IPLs. Not that that has a great deal of relevance, but he’s a very powerful unit. A very conventional hitter of the ball. Tall, big body position, and great hands that he can hit down the ground with. So he can be a threat,” Hayden added.

In nine Tests, Tristan Stubbs scored 500 runs in with 2 centuries and 1 half-century. Known for thriving under pressure, his presence adds vital strength to South Africa’s batting lineup as they head into the WTC final.
