After a thrilling two and a half year cycle, the ‘Ultimate Test Match’ is on the way as the Lord’s Cricket Ground is ready to host the WTC final. Following an electrifying cycle, Australia and South Africa will lock horns in the grand finale of the red-ball championship.
Before taking on the Aussies, the Proteas are gearing up with intense focus, determined to end their ICC trophy drought. Ahead of the big showdown, Kagiso Rabada received heartfelt praises from his teammates.
Verreynne’s Heartfelt Praises For Rabada
After the exceptional performance in the longest format, the South African side has secured their place in the WTC final, marking their maiden entry on the big stage. As they announced a strong squad, Kagiso Rabada is a prominent figure as he has dominated the opponent with his almost unplayable yorkers.
Claiming 327 wickets in 70 Tests, he is a massive asset to the side. Before stepping into the big clash, he received some heartfelt praises from his teammates. While talking to the ICC Digital, wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne even dubbed him the ‘best bowler’, hailing his brilliance on the big stage.
“KG’s the best bowler in the world. Without a doubt, he’s the best bowler in the world, and I think he’s one of those guys that always wants to do it on the big stage, and you don’t get any stages bigger than this, so I think he’s going to be massive for us,” Verreynne said.
Bedingham Backs Rabada’s Magic At Lord’s
As the battleground is getting ready for the biggest festival of Test cricket, the South African side is aiming to remove their ‘Chokers’ tag. Ahead of the clash, David Bedingham voiced his confidence in Rabada’s ability to ignite the Lord’s pitch, praising him as the spearhead of their bowling attack.
“I genuinely think he’s the best bowler in the world. He’s played here (Lord’s), he’s taken wickets here before, so him going well will go a long way to us winning the whole thing. He’s an amazing person… and he makes our jobs a lot easier. He’s the leader of our attack,” Bedingham said.
On June 11, both the forces will cross swords at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, aiming the redemption. Will Australia hold onto their crown, or will the Proteas finally break their jinx? Fans across the globe are eagerly waiting to find out.
