Pakistan thumped Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, November 16 to complete a 3-0 sweep over the visitors in the three-match ODI series. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman listed confident half-centuries to engineer Pakistan’s successful run-chase in the third ODI, after Mohammad Wasim Jr. picked up a stunning three-wicket haul.

A day after the win, Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson summed up his team’s dominant week with a celebratory social media post.

Mike Hesson hails Pakistan’s complete team effort

Mike Hesson has congratulated the Pakistan cricket team for defeating a “dangerous Sri Lanka” side by a 3-0 margin at home. The ‘Men in Green’ coach described it a “proud achievement” before heading into the T20I tri-series.

Taking to X, Mike Hesson wrote:

“As we quickly shift our focus back to T20’s today I wanted to take a little time to reflect on what has happened over the last week. A 3-0 win against a dangerous Sri Lankan side is a proud achievement for the whole team!”

Mike Hesson also acknowledged Pakistan’s complete team effort in demolishing Sri Lanka. He praised Pakistan’s collective bowling performance, ably helmed by fast bowler and new ODI captain Shaheen Afridi, and recalled the match-winning centuries of T20I skipper Agha Salman and legendary batter Babar Azam.

Mike Hesson also congratulated senior man Mohammad Rizwan for completing 100 caps in the format. He wrote:

“But it was a series filled with so many more highlights and achievements than just the wins. Stand out performances from our youngest squad members, a bowling group that fought back in every match, two centuries from key players, a new captain quickly growing into the role, a corner stone player achieving 100 caps for Pakistan and the whole squad contributed throughout the series which continues to grows our depth for future series. These are only some of the achievements that add up to wins and what drives me in my coaching.”

The Pakistan team, coached by Mike Hesson, will now host Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for a T20I tri-series from November 18 onwards. All seven matches of the series will be hosted by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
