India’s cricketing fortress finally showed a crack after 69 years as New Zealand clinched a historic Test series win on Indian soil. New Zealand defeated the hosts 2-0 with a 113-run victory in Pune today (October 26). The defeat ended India’s remarkable 18-series winning streak at home and exposed vulnerabilities within both the batting and bowling departments. 

Rohit Sharma's Candid Remark After India's Loss

While acknowledging the collective failure, Skipper Rohit Sharma struck a notably bold and candid tone in his post-match press conference after the match, where he remarked, “12 saal mein ek baar toh allowed hai yaar.”

This remark caught the attention of the fans and followers and in no time Rohit's comment went viral. His response that was lighthearted and revealing described both the rarity and magnitude of India's dominance on home soil. 

His comments clearly reflect that India have had a dominating performance for over a decade and occasional failures are inevitable. This unplanned response came as a surprise to fans, who have come to expect consistency from the Indian team, especially at home.

Rohit Sharma Opens Up On India's Failure

In the same conference he also added that India's loss was due to lack of team effort, he refrined himself from blaming any particular player or department, instead he mentioned that it was  'collective failure' as the team struggled to exert pressure on the opposition. Rohit also further credited  New Zealand’s disciplined approach for keeping India on the back foot throughout the series.

It is important to mention that, India batting was a crucial concern as they completely failed to put big totals as New Zealand defeated India by 113 runs. Rohit Sharma will next face Kiwis in the third Test of the series in Mumbai.
