The much-awaited Women's Big Bash League is all set to kick off with its first match between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat Women at the iconic Adelaide Oval on 27 October.

The defending champions, Adelaide Strikers, led by Tahlia McGrath, have strengthened themselves this season with some notable additions, mainly Indian opener Smriti Mandhana and Ireland's versatile all-rounder Orla Prendergast. Under the leadership of the Australian star, they aim to win a third consecutive WBBL title after a thrilling three-run victory over Brisbane Heat in last year's final.

While the team has lost experienced players like Georgia Adams and Dani Gibson, the core is strong with the presence of players like Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington. But they will be missing the services of Mandhana for a while, who is involved in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Brisbane Heat, led by Jess Jonassen, come back with a revamped squad, including new signings like Jemimah Rodrigues, Ruby Strange, Mikayla Wrigley, Nadine de Klerk, and Shikha Pandey. Hence, they would be eager to start off on a good note.

While the two gear up to face-off against one another, let's have a detailed look at their head-to-head records:

AS-W vs BH-W: What happened when they last played?

The Adelaide Strikers successfully defended a modest total of 125 in a thrilling WBBL final against the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval to win back-to-back titles. Restricted by disciplined Heat bowling and astute captaincy from Jonassen, the Strikers managed to post a challenging score.

The Heat faced early setbacks, slumping to 62 for 4, thanks to Tahlia McGrath's stellar bowling. The Strikers maintained their momentum, however, Megan Schutt's late wickets brought the pressure, and the match went down to the last over.

Amanda-Jade Wellington dismissed key batters, leaving the Heat with 13 runs needed off the final over. The Strikers held their nerve, as a six from Mikayla Hinkley proved insufficient for the Heat, and Wellington expertly denied them a last-ball win.

With this, Adelaide Strikers won the final of Women's Big Bash League.
