The encounters between the cricketing giants, India and England have always been thrilling, especially during the last decade. While the Indian team used to struggle against England earlier and even in Indian conditions, but now they have been unbeaten in India since 2012. With the brand of cricket the Indian team have been playing in the last few years, they have even managed to dominate the Englishmen in England.

Virat Kohli - 655 Runs (England tour of India 2016)

After a devastating time in England in 2014, Virat Kohli transformed himself into a beast, whether it was in terms of his fitness or in terms of runs he was scoring, he was right up there at the top. England toured India in 2016, which was also known as the year of Virat Kohli in the cricket world and the tour comprised five Tests along with the limited-over games. 

Apart from the first Test which ended in a draw, the Indian team went on to win the next four Test matches and sealed the series with their dominance. Virat Kohli turned out to be the chief architect in India's comprehensive victories, scoring 655 runs in eight innings with the help of two centuries and two half centuries, including the highest score of 235 in the Wankhede Test.


Rahul Dravid - 602 Runs (India tour of England 2002)

The current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid was once among the prolific run-scorers for India, especially in the SENA countries. When India toured England for the four-match Test series in 2002, Dravid stepped up and went on to smash 602 runs, helping India draw the series. 

In the third Test of the series, Dravid smashed 148 runs along with the daddy centuries from Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar and helped India seal an innings win over the hosts. With the help of three centuries and one half-century, including the highest score of 217, Dravid had an amazing time in the English conditions. 


Virat Kohli - 593 Runs (India tour of England 2018)

England hosted a five-match long Test series for India and went on to win it by 4-1. It was nothing short of a humiliating time in the English conditions for the Indian team, but there was one man, who was the lone wolf and made everyone believe that he was batting on a different pitch than the whole Indian team, it was none other than Virat Kohli

India lost the first two Tests, but Virat Kohli brought India back in the series by scoring 97 and 103 in the third Test and helped India win the match. With 593 runs, Virat was the top scorer of the Test series including two centuries and three half-centuries, with the highest score of 149 runs. 


Vijay Manjrekar - 586 Runs (England tour of India 1961-62)

Vijay Manjrekar was one of the elite cricketers, who got the opportunity to lead the Indian team in the longest format of the game. On his debut in 1951 against England, he scored 48 and went on to score his first century as well in Headingley. Carrying the weight of the Indian team for over a decade, Manjrekar was among the finest cricketers India ever produced. 

In 1961-62, India hosted a five-match Test series for the England team. The visitors had a disappointing time in India, as the hosts clinched the series with 2-0. Vijay Manjrekar was the top scorer from India, scoring 586 runs in just eight innings and Salim Durani was the highest wicket-taker of the series. Both of them powered India to a comprehensive victory over the England team. 


Sunil Gavaskar - 542 Runs (India tour of England 1979)

Sunil Gavaskar, who is one of the legends of the game, was also the premium batter for the Indian team especially in away Test games. In the year 1979, when India toured England for the four-match Test series, Gavaskar turned out to be the best batter from both sides and went on to hammer 542 runs in just seven innings. 

Although he tried to save the series with his efforts, but the Englishmen managed to win one of the four Tests and claimed the series. Gavaskar with one century and three half-centuries, including the highest score of 221, showcased his class and temperament against the quality line-up.
