'Won’t Tell You Guys’ - ABD Refuses To Share Reason Behind Virat Kohli's Absence vs ENG

Former South African cricketer and legend, AB de Villiers, discussed Virat Kohli's decision to pull out of the first two test matches against England, citing personal reasons.

De Villiers further admitted that he is as clueless as the rest of cricket fans and community about why Kohli pulled out of the first two Tests. He is also crossing fingers that everything is fine with the cricket giant.

Here’s what AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel:

"No one knows what has happened yet. I am sure we will get to know soon. If Virat talks about personal reasons, there must be a very good reason for that. Maybe he is also tired. He has been playing a lot of cricket. Could be family stuff. I will find out soon but I won't tell you guys. His friendship is too important to me."

It's worth mentioning that Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have a fantastic friendship, solidified during their years together at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

‘Bazball Will Work In India’ - AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers further went on to speak about England’s new and highly-discussed 'Bazball' strategy, under which their batters look to attack the opposition bowlers rather than play defensive cricket.

While many in cricket fraternity doubt if England's Bazball plan suits India, AB de Villiers thinks differently. The ex-cricketer suggests that the key to scoring on spin-friendly tracks is to go on the offensive, not just try to hang in there.

"I feel Bazball, or any attacking brand of cricket in Indian conditions will work very well. It can work in any rough conditions. In the Newlands with the ball moving around, who scored? Aiden Markram and a few Indian batters who took the attack to the opposition. Players who are conservative generally struggle."

AB de Villiers further recalled his experience of playing Test cricket in India, stating:

"I remember an innings in Kanpur where spin was introduced in the 9th over of the innings in Day 1. That's very unheard of. But I learned pretty quickly there that you need to be attacking. You don't tend to get into difficult situations more often than when you just try to survive."

The visitors have already announced their playing 11 for the first Test against India and surprisingly they have not included their pace spearhead James Anderson in their lineup.

The first test is set to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 25.
