He went on to hammer 907 Test runs that year, which is still at the top of his career when it comes to Test runs scored in a year. In the same year, England toured South Africa for a four-match Test series. 

In the second Test which was being played on the world's most picturesque ground, Cape Town. While batting first, England went on to post a huge first innings total of 629 runs and Ben Stokes went on to play the best innings of his career and hammered 258 runs with the help of 11 sixes and 30 boundaries.

The West Indies tour of England was the first tour that was played after the outbreak of Covid-19. West Indies created history by winning the first Test. Being one match down already in the three-match series, England were looking to make a comeback in the series. While batting first in the second game, England lost three wickets for just 81 runs and then came Benjamin Stokes. 

He took his time, stuck in the middle and hammered 176 runs, making a partnership of over 200 runs with Dom Sibley, helping England post a big first innings total of 469 runs. Stokes did not stop there as he went down to score 76 runs in the second innings as well and also took a total of three wickets in the game to claim the Player of the Match award.

In the Ashes 2023, Australia were already one up in the series and the captain Ben Stokes had to find a way to make a comeback in the series. In the second Test, the Australians dominated the first innings and left 371 runs for the hosts to chase. 

While chasing 371, England lost four wickets for just 45 runs and the captain Stokes arrived in the middle. The Aussies are well aware of his capacity considering his Headingly knock from 2019. Stokes with his mastery almost pulled off the chase yet again, scoring 155 runs but fell short of 43 runs, as England were bowled out for 327.

In the Ashes 2019, almost an impossible thing happened as Ben Stokes smashed a four to win the Headingley Test and kind of saved the Ashes. England lost the first Test and the second one ended in a draw. With England looking to make a comeback and revive the Ashes, they had to win the third Test in Headingly. 

While chasing 359 runs, England lost two wickets for just 15 runs and then Ben Stokes walked in the middle making a partnership with Joe Root, who also got out after scoring a fifty. Ben Stokes held one end and went on to win the match for England with just a wicket to spare, scoring 135 runs.

Back in 2016, India hosted a five-match Test series along with limited-over games. The host won the series comprehensively by 4-0 and the only match that ended in a draw was the first Test in Rajkot. While batting first, England posted a huge first innings total of 537 runs and three players went on to smash centuries. 

Ben Stokes was among the three centuries as he hammered 128 runs and made the most of the year 2016. He went on to add 29 runs more in the second innings and also took one wicket, eventually helping his team draw the Test.
