The Hundred Women’s 2024 season came to a cracking conclusion on Sunday, August 18 with London Spirit lifting the coveted title at Lord’s. As one can expect, the entire month-long competition was glittered with scores of spectacular bowling performances. Here at OneCricket, we take a look at five of the best bowling spells recorded by bowlers throughout the tournament.

5. Hayley Matthews 4-14 vs Southern Brave

In match number 30, Welsh Fire off-spinner Hayley Matthews clattered Southern Brave’s batting line-up in Southampton by picking up four wickets in quick succession. After removing opener Danni Wyatt for just a single, Matthews also dismissed a well-set Maia Bouchier as Brave crashed to 34-4 at one stage of the innings.

The West Indies all-rounder later accounted for the wickets of Naomi Dattani and Kalea Moore in a space of just three deliveries to seize astonishing match-winning figures of 4-14 from 20 balls.

4. Marizanne Kapp 4-11 vs London Spirit

At the halfway stage of The Hundred Women’s 2024 season, South African-based Oval Invincibles fast bowler Marizanne Kapp dashed London Spirit’s aspirations at Lord’s with a scintillating four-wicket haul. Sharing the new-ball with Rachel Slater, Kapp struck in his opening spell before getting rid of Cordelia Griffith and Georgia Redmayne between four deliveries.

Remarkably, the speedster’s four-wicket haul comprised of each of London Spirit’s top four batters to claim figures of 4-11 from 20 balls. Moreover, Marizanne Kapp also top-scored for her side later in the run-chase with 47 runs to cap a remarkable all-round performance for herself.

3. Annabel Sutherland 4-11 vs Oval Invincibles

Northern Superchargers all-rounder Annabel Sutherland pummeled Oval Invincibles with sheer all-round brilliance at The Oval in match number 12 of The Hundred Women’s 2024 season on August 2. Defending 147 runs to win, the Australian fast bowler went wicketless in her first 10 deliveries as the Oval Invincibles reached 64-6 in 60 balls.

With Amanda-Jade Wellington having occupied a fair amount of time at the crease, Sutherland bowled through the gates of Invincibles number seven with a jaffa. Moreover, the speedster also cleaned-bowled the final three of Oval Invincibles batters to claim four wickets in a space of just six deliveries, eventually bagging figures of 4-11. Earlier in the match, Annabel Sutherland also pounded an unbeaten 63 from 40 balls to take Superchargers to 146-4.

2. Lauren Bell 4-11 vs Northern Superchargers

Southern Brave fast bowler Lauren Bell perhaps unfurled one of the match-defining spells of the entire Women’s The Hundred 2024 season against Northern Superchargers at Leeds on July 30. Defending a paltry 101-run total, Brave captain Georgia Adams employed Bell to bowl after the opening spells of new-ball strikers Tilly Corteen-Coleman and Lauren Cheatle. At her innovative best, it took Bell just 10 balls to get rid of both Superchargers openers to seize early advantage for her side.

The speedster also claimed the key wicket of Annabel Sutherland and delivered a tight final over to keep Superchargers down to 100-7 for a thrilling tie. Lauren Bell eventually secured dazzling figures of 4-11 from his 20 balls and was fittingly declared the ‘Player of the Match’.

1. Kathryn Bryce 5-13 vs Northern Superchargers

Manchester Originals fast bowler Kathryn Bryce picked up the lone five-wicket haul of the entire Women’s The Hundred 2024 season through her match-winning spell against Northern Superchargers in Manchester on August 11. Defending 152 after Beth Mooney’s cracking 99-run unbeaten knock, Bryce dismissed Superchargers captain Hollie Armitage early in the innings. In one of her return spells, the speedster dismissed Annabel Sutherland, Alice Davidson-Richards and Kate Cross to snare a sensational hat-trick.

Moreover, Kathryn Bryce also toppled Georgia Wareham a couple of deliveries later to collect four wickets in a space of just five balls, and finishing the match with figures of 5-13.
