Express quick Lockie Ferguson showed off his pace and hostility in the second T20I against Australia in Auckland on Friday (February 23). The New Zealand seamer got rid of Aussie wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis at a critical juncture in the first innings of a must-win clash for the home side.

Asked to come back with the old ball after a terrific first spell worth figures of 1 for 7 off 2 overs on a flat batting paradise, the right-arm quick reinforced his great impact and utility to New Zealand's fortunes with the prized scalp of Inglis in the 11th over of the Australian innings.

Banging one in short off the good length, Ferguson got one to jump up too big on Inglis' attempted hook shot, as he induced the top edge with the ball flying comfortably into the hands of the deep square leg fielder Mark Chapman.

Despite reducing Australia to 4 down at the halfway mark, the Kiwis would've been wary of Inglis, the extravagant right-hander, who is renowned for coming out firing in the back half of an innings. They needed Ferguson to send the dangerman back to the shed at the start of his second spell.

Just on cue, Ferguson managed to impose himself on the in-form right-hander and had him miscue an attempted six hit to the fielder in the deep. Inglis would've been disappointed to mishit the stroke after committing wholeheartedly to a maximum towards the on-side.

Inglis' departure pulled Australia back in their pursuit to post a huge total on the board as the visitors were down to 5 wickets with only 115 runs on the board on the flattest surface in New Zealand, with Eden Park in Auckland also renowned for its tiny boundary dimensions.
