In the sixth month of the year 2022, India hosted a five-match T20I series for South Africa. The tour began with the first T20I in Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium and the senior players. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were rested as Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain to lead the bunch of young players. 

In Rohit's absence, Ishan Kishan got the opportunity to open the innings in his 11th T20I game and the very first match of the series, he went on to smash his third fifty in the T20Is against the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi. He provided India with a flyer of a start and ended up scoring 76 off 48 deliveries, helping India post a mammoth total of 211, but the Men in Blue ended up losing the game.

Right after the World Cup 2023, there was a five-match T20I series scheduled in view of the preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024. India selected a second-string team for the series, with Suryakumar Yadav as the captain and Ishan Kishan being the other senior member of the team. 

In the very first game of the series, Australia with Josh Inglis's maiden T20I century posted a huge total of 208 runs. Ishan Kishan, who was supposed to be batting at number three, had to walk in in the first over itself and India lost both the openers inside three overs. The left-hander stitched a partnership with Suryakumar and scored 58 off just 39 including five sixes, and providing India with the much-needed momentum in the chase.

During the Covid times, India hosted an all-format tour for England including the three-match T20I series. India, after losing the first game, replaced Shikhar Dhawan with Ishan Kishan in the second game. Ishan Kishan, having made his debut against the likes of Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Ben Stokes, was calm and composed and smashed a fifty in his very first International game. 

India had to win the second game after losing the first one in order to save the series. Kishan smacked bowlers all over the ground and gave India a flyer of a start, setting up the chase of 165 runs. With Kishan's 56 off just 32 deliveries, including four big hits, India went on to chase the target with 2.1 overs spare.
