SA20 has always been a high-scoring league, with batters consistently taking centre stage. Among those standout performances, Shai Hope, the West Indies batting powerhouse and wicketkeeper-batter for Pretoria Capitals, lit up the SA20 2025-26 clash against Durban Super Giants by producing the highest individual score in the league’s history.

While Shai Hope now sits at the top of the list, several players, ranging from exciting young talents to experienced veterans, had previously dominated the record charts. So, let’s take a look at those players who have registered the highest individual innings scores in SA20 history.

5) Jordan Hermann - 106* vs MI Cape Town

On January 16, 2024, Jordan Hermann, one of the rising talents of South African cricket, produced a scintillating knock of 106 runs off 62 deliveries against MI Cape Town. Hermann’s century proved to be the decisive factor in Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s victory, as it powered the team to a total of over 202 runs.

While chasing the target, MI Cape Town’s batters struggled under pressure. Despite valiant efforts from Ottniel Baartman, MI Cape Town pushed the chase close but eventually fell short by just four runs. Sunrisers Eastern Cape successfully defended their total, with Jordan Hermann’s match-winning innings playing a central role in the result.

4) Ryan Rickelton - 113 vs Durban Super Giants

Playing against Durban Super Giants, MI Cape Town’s Ryan Rickelton played a crucial role in the chase, albeit in a losing cause. Batting first, Durban Super Giants piled up a massive total of 232 runs on the board.

MI Cape Town faltered early after losing the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen. However, opener Ryan Rickelton held one end firmly, scoring a superb 113 runs off just 63 deliveries. His innings included five boundaries and 11 sixes, coming at an impressive strike rate of 179.36.

Despite his heroic and valiant effort, Rickelton was dismissed on the first ball of the final over when MI Cape Town were 211 for 6. The team failed to see him through to the end of the chase, and his remarkable knock ultimately went in vain.

3) Faf du Plessis - 113* vs Durban Super Giants

Faf du Plessis played a heroic knock for Joburg Super Kings in the 2023 edition of the SA20. Playing against the Durban Super Giants, du Plessis remained unbeaten on 113 runs off 58 balls, striking at an impressive rate of 194.82.

He played a crucial role in JSK’ chase of DSG’s total of 178 runs. Du Plessis smashed eight boundaries and eight sixes during his innings and held the innings together alongside Reeza Hendricks and Leus du Plooy, guiding the team to victory with five balls remaining.

2) Kyle Verreynne - 116* vs MI Cape Town

Kyle Verreynne played a heroic knock of an unbeaten 116 runs off just 52 deliveries for Pretoria Capitals while chasing a daunting target of 249 runs against MI Cape Town.

While Verreynne was outstanding with the bat and remained unbeaten throughout the innings, the top and middle order of Pretoria Capitals was dismantled by Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, and Nuwan Thushara.

Despite holding one end firmly at a strike rate of 223.07, while smashing nine sixes and seven boundaries, Verreynne received little support from his teammates. As a result, Pretoria Capitals finished on 214 runs at the end of 20 overs, losing the match by 34 runs.

1) Shai Hope - 118* vs Durban Super Giants

Shai Hope became the highest run-scorer in a single innings in SA20 history with an unbeaten 118 runs off 69 balls. Representing Pretoria Capitals in the 2026 edition of the league, Hope opened the batting alongside Connor Esterhuizen and struck nine boundaries and nine sixes during his innings.

Hope’s stand-alone knock powered Pretoria Capitals past the 200-run mark. In reply, Durban Super Giants faltered despite a heroic 97 from Jos Buttler. Their middle and lower middle order collapsed like a house of cards, as the Super Giants were bundled out for 186 runs in 19.4 overs.
