Most Wickets in WPL history [Source: @yogeshgoswami_, @ImAnant_45/X.com]
The WPL has been a paradise for batters, with flat pitches, short boundaries and fearless strokeplay. And still, every season, there have been bowlers who have held their heads high, breaking partnerships, stopping run flows and turning matches on their head.
Taking wickets in the WPL is no easy job, and those who top the charts truly deserve their praise.
Amelia Kerr, a quality all-rounder from New Zealand, recently made history during the first WPL 2026 game and aced an elite list.
On that note, take a look at the bowlers who have claimed the most wickets in WPL history so far and how they’ve made their mark.
4. Jess Jonassen - 33 wickets
Tied at no. 4 is Delhi Capitals’ left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen. In 24 games, she has picked 33 wickets at a 20.75 average and 7.74 economy. Jess’ strength lies in her control and variation.
She tempts batters into mistakes and makes them work hard for every run. Her best figure is 4/31, and in tight games, Jonassen’s calm presence often makes the difference for Delhi Capitals.
4. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 33 wickets
Mumbai Indians’ veteran Nat Sciver-Brunt has also picked up 33 wickets in 30 WPL games at a 22.12 average and 7.68 economy. Whether it’s with the new ball or in the middle overs, she delivers with discipline and intelligence. Sciver-Brunt may not be flashy, but she is reliable, and that’s gold in a tournament as competitive as the WPL.
3. Sophie Ecclestone - 36 wickets
Playing for UP Warriorz Women, Sophie Ecclestone has claimed 36 wickets in just 25 WPL games at an 18.38 average and 6.68 economy. She is one of the best spinners in women’s cricket, and it took her little time to make a mark in the WPL.
Her best figures of 4/13 are proof of how destructive she can be when in rhythm. Even when she’s not picking up wickets, she’s creating chances and building pressure.
2. Hayley Matthews - 41 wickets
Just one wicket behind the top wicket-taker is Hayley Matthews, another stalwart in MI’s bowling attack. In 29 WPL games, she has 41 wickets, a 17.56 average and a 7.24 economy.
She often bowls in tough phases, either with the new ball or during pressure overs, and still manages to pick up wickets. Matthews is the kind of bowler who quietly builds pressure before delivering the knockout blow.
1. Amelia Kerr - 42 wickets
At the top of the list sits Amelia Kerr, and it’s no surprise. Calm, clever and endlessly consistent, Kerr has been the Mumbai Indians’ go-to wicket-taker. In just 30 WPL games, she claimed 42 wickets at a 17.16 average and a 7.54 economy. Kerr is the only one in this list to have a fifer to her name.
Whether it’s with her deceptive leg-spin or her sharp reading of batters, Amelia Kerr always seems to find a breakthrough when her team needs it. Her best figures of 5/38 show her match-winning ability, but it’s her regular strikes that truly stand out.
