Richa Ghosh made headlines on Friday during the WPL 2026 opener between RCB and Mumbai Indians with a lightning-quick stumping at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. No wonder it brought back memories of MS Dhoni, who is still going strong whenever IPL comes into play.

The incident happened during the seventh over of Mumbai Indians’ innings after RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and asked them to bat first. Nadine de Klerk came to bowl, and England’s premier all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt was on strike.

Sciver-Brunt went for a drive, only to see the ball getting back to the keeper Richa, after it hit the Englishwoman’s pad. The Indian wicket-keeper took little time to gather the ball before taking off the bails.

The reply on the big screen showed Sciver-Brunt was out of the crease when the bails were dislodged, and therefore, she had to return to the pavilion.

Nicola Carey & Sajeevan Sajana held the fort for Mumbai

Mumbai were off to a shaky start, courtesy of an extraordinary struggle from Amelia Kerr, who came to open the innings in Hayley Matthews’ absence. 17-year-old G Kamalini tried her best, making 32 off 28 balls with five fours, but it was not enough to give Mumbai control.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not last long either, making the job tough for debutant Nicola Carey and Sajeevan Sajana. At the time of writing, Sajeevan Sajana is on 16* off 11 balls, while Nicola Carey is on 20* off 18 balls.

The scoreboard, at this point, reads 103/4 after 15.3 overs, with Arundhati Reddy bowling for RCB and Sajana on strike.
