Ishan Kishan’s fearless approach at the crease has quickly earned him a reputation as one of India's most dynamic young talents in ODI cricket. His attacking mindset, characterized by an aggressive stroke play, has often put pressure on bowlers, allowing him to amass several match-winning knocks in a relatively short span of his career.

With a knack for smashing half-centuries that can snatch away the game away from his opposition in a blitz, Kishan has already delivered some memorable batting recitals. Let's take a look at five of the highest scores he has recorded in ODIs.

5) 59 vs Sri Lanka in Colombo, July 2021

Mere months after successful home T20Is against England, Ishan Kishan was handed his maiden ODI cap at the July 2021 series opener against Sri Lanka at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. Celebrating his format debut and 23th birthday with much swagger, he smeared 59 match-winning runs off 42 balls to help India pull off a chase of 263 in just 36.4 overs.

During the course of his boundary blitz, the dashing wicketkeeper-batter also shared an 85-run third-wicket partnership with captain and fellow half-centurion Shikhar Dhawan. Ishan Kishan clobbered eight boundaries and two sixes in the innings and even took a special liking to Sri Lankan spinner Dhananjaya de Silva.

4) 77 vs West Indies in Tarouba, August 2023

Turning up for India at the Brian Lara Stadium in the series-deciding third ODI on August 1, 2023; Ishan Kishan smacked eight boundaries and three sixes during his 143-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill

The cricketer charted 77 swift runs from 64 balls and the innings marked his third straight half-century in the series. Ishan’s 77-run knock helped India set up a mammoth 351-5 from 50 overs before bowlers romped through West Indies to secure a 200-run series-clinching victory.

3) 82 vs Pakistan in Pallekele,  September 2023

Ishan Kishan counterattacked Pakistani pacemen with a run-a-ball 82 after Team India had slipped to 66-4 in their opening match of the 2023 Asia Cup in Pallekele. Forming forces with Hardik Pandya, the two cricketers orchestrated India’s valiant rescue act with a 138-run partnership to take them past the 200-run mark. Ishan himself forged 82 of those runs with nine boundaries and two sixes before mistiming one towards Babar Azam at 204.

Nonetheless, his attacking mindset and belligerent approach took India from 66-4 to a respectable first innings total of 266.

2) 93 vs South Africa in Ranchi, October 2022

Trailing 0-1 in the home series against South Africa in October 2022, Indian bowlers conceded 278-7 to the visitors in the second ODI match at Ranchi’s JSCA Stadium. Crashing to 48-2 in a chase of 279, number three batter Ishan Kishan launched seven sixes and additional four boundaries to bash a then career-best 93 from 84 balls.

His 161-run partnership with centurion Shreyas Iyer set up India’s emphatic seven-wicket victory in just 45.5 overs, as the ‘Men in Blue’ successfully levelled the series to enforce a series decider at Delhi.

With the series already out of the equation, Ishan Kishan turned up the heat against hosts Bangladesh at Chattogram in the third ODI on December 10, 2022. Ishan stacked up 210 runs and reached his double-hundred in just 126 balls.

The innings not only marked his maiden and sole ODI hundred to date, but it also remains ODI cricket’s fastest double-century of all time and the joint-fifth-highest score in format’s history. Ishan Kishan’s Chattogram hurricane also marked one of the rare occasions of a single batter outscoring the opposition’s entire total (182) as India clinched the dead-rubber by 227 runs.
