Adelaide Strikers crushed defending champions Brisbane Heat in match number 31 of the BBL 2024-25 season at the Adelaide Oval. Matthew Short and D’Arcy Short masterminded the big Strikers’ win, helping them gain a rung to move to number seven on the BBL 2024-25 points table.
Here’s the timeline of how Strikers vs Heat panned out at the Adelaide Oval:
Strikers vs Heat Highlights: Chris Lynn Goes Bonkers With Matthew Short
Adelaide Strikers opener Chris Lynn launched five boundaries and three sixes during his 121-run opening stand with Matthew Short. The two blistering cricketers smeared those runs from just 8.5 overs before Lynn (47 off 20) was cleaned up by Matthew Kuhnemann.
Short shared another 45 runs with silent partner Alex Carey (13 off 8) to blaze the Strikers past the 150-run mark in just 11 overs. Carey and number four Ollie Pope failed to sustain Strikers’ early momentum as the two wicketkeeper-batters were knocked over by Kuhnemann and Mitchell Swepson respectively.
Strikers vs Heat Highlights: Alex Ross Adds Finishing Fury After Short Century
Matthew Short brought up his century from just 49 balls, and shaped 109 runs in all from 54 deliveries with 10 boundaries and seven sixes. While the blistering opener was caught out by Xavier Bartlett off Mitchell Swepson in the 16th over, Alex Ross bolted the Strikers to a monumental 251-5 by the completion of their innings.
Ross slapped five boundaries and two sixes in his 19-ball unbeaten cameo of 44*, while D’Arcy Short also chipped in with a 10-ball 16*.
For the Brisbane Heat, Matthew Kuhnemann picked up his third wicket of the high-scoring innings in the form of Jamie Overton to collect figures of 3-50 from his four overs.

Jack Wood employed a cautious approach by scoring 29 off 24 balls, while number three Nathan McSweeney top-scored for the Heat with 43 until both made their way back to the dugout before reaching team 100.
Matt Renshaw also carried out the fireworks from his end with three scorching sixes during his 16-ball 34 before becoming Jordan Buckingham’s first BBL wicket at 146-4 in 13.2 overs.
