In a significant development, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first against India in the first match of the five-match T20I series. The match is being played at the Manuka Oval, Canberra on Wednesday, October 29.

For this series opener, India have decided to play with three spin bowlers in Canberra. Interestingly, they didn’t include left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh in the team. Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma were also left out.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy won’t be available for the first three T20I matches because he injured his left thigh muscle during the second ODI earlier in the tour.

Australia vs India 1st T20I: Captain's thoughts

Suryakumar Yadav (India Captain): "We were looking to bat first. It looks like a good wicket. I have heard from our analyst that there haven't been many games played here at this venue. This wicket gets slower in the second innings. So, yeah, we wanted to bat first."

Mitchell Marsh (Australia Captain): "We would like to bowl first. Looks a good surface, most times we come here, a good ground, good crowd, looking forward to it.

Yeah, as do India. Both sides are stacked with a lot of power. They are the number one side in the world. So, we are up and about for the contest."
