In preparation for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies, Indian wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to cement his spot in the national squad. Currently undergoing rigorous training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Samson looks determined to make his mark on the Caribbean tour.

With KL Rahul still in rehab for a thigh injury and Rishabh Pant in the process of recovery following a car crash in December, Samson finds himself as one of the two wicketkeepers in the Indian squad, alongside Ishan Kishan. This presents a significant opportunity for Samson to showcase his skills and solidify his position in the team.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Samson shared glimpses of his intensive preparations for the upcoming white-ball assignments. The photos revealed him performing lunges, but what caught the attention was the unique approach he employed.

Samson incorporated heavy chains on his shoulders during the lunges which showed his dedication to his training regimen. In his caption, he accompanied the post with a bicep emoticon which further emphasized his commitment and focus.

Meanwhile, Samson has already earned 11 ODI caps for India and now he will have an opportunity to add to his international appearances if the team management opts for a middle-order keeper-batsman against the West Indies.

Ishan Kishan, known for batting higher up the order, could open the door for Samson to contribute his skills as a specialist batter. Notably, Samson has an impressive ODI record, having scored 330 runs in 10 innings at an average of 66.00, including two half-centuries.

Moreover, the selectors' exclusion of Samson from India's Asian Games squad indicates that he is a crucial part of their plans for the upcoming ICC World Cup in 2023. This further reinforces the significance of the ongoing series against the West Indies as Samson aims to consolidate his position in the Indian team.
