In a significant development, the BCCI has named two formidable men's and women's squads for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Contrary to earlier reports, the board has excluded veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan from the men's team, naming promising top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad the captain for the showpiece event. As the first-choice players will participate in the ICC World Cup at that time, the board has announced a comparatively younger side to feature in the event.
The Indian batting line-up looks rock-solid, comprising flamboyant batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh. The dynamic Punjab Kings' duo- Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh- have been trusted with the keeping duties, with Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube and Shahbaz Ahmed set to play as all-rounders.
Indian bowling unit looks robust on paper, studded with the likes of Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi and Shivam Mavi.
