Virat Kohli and former Indian men's football captain, Sunil Chhetri have shared a great friendship over the years and have openly shown their admiration and mutual respect in numerous interviews and on social media.

Chhetri, who made his final international appearance for the Indian side in a draw against Kuwait in Salt Lake Stadium, had recently also revealed about talking to the cricketer before announcing his retirement publicly while referring to him as a close friend.

The duo also had a famous Instagram Live chat during the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic where they discussed their diets, favorite foods, ideal cheat meals and food places.

They have also shown admiration for each other for their incredible work ethic as they keep themselves at the top of their games late in their 30s. Recently, the 35-year-old had also sent a heartfelt message to Sunil when the footballer announced his retirement.

Another connection the two share is their love for Bengaluru as one captains Bengaluru FC and the other captained the RCB for many years. Chhetri has also made multiple appearances in RCB's training and YouTube videos to meet Virat while the franchise also gifting him jerseys.

The Indian football legend, 39, finished his 19-year career as the third highest goal scorer in international football among the active players with 94 goals in 151 appearances, just behind Cristiano Ronaldo's 128 in 205 and the World Cup winner, Lionel Messi's 106 in 180 matches.
