RCB vs KKR Gets Washed Out (Source: AP Photos)
Indian Premier League was suspended after the 58th match due to the rising border tensions between India and Pakistan. However, after a 10 day pause, the tournament was about to get off the way with the RCB vs KKR match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Benglauru.
Much to the disappointment of the fans and supporters, rain interrupted the affair. The toss was not able to take place. The rain continued later into the night and as a result not a single ball was bowled in the game. The match has been abandoned and as a result the defending champions, KKR have been eliminated from the tournament.
KKR's Disappointing Journey
The Kolkata Knight Riders have lost six of their games in the 13 matches and two of their matches have been abandoned due to rain. With 12 points under their belt in the tournament, they have been eliminated from the tournament. Notably, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the tournament in IPL 2024 and it was expected that they would keep up their performance and go close to defending their title.
RCB Climb To The Top Of The Table
While KKR walks out of the tournament, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have climbed to the top spot in the points table. They have 17 points in 12 matches with eight wins and three defeats and one of their games being abandoned due to rain.
The Rajat Patidar-led side will aim to win the remaining two of their games and finish at the top of the points table. On the other hand, one defeat would endanger their spot at the top two. So, the incentive for the Royal Challengers is high so that they win the last two games and finish in the top two, thus getting two chances to find their way to the summit clash in the tournament.
